IMU-CET Questions Pattern for Online Test – 2021

Candidates want to get admission for any of these courses, have to appear and qualify IMU CET FEB/AUG 2021 Exam. For coming FEB Batch CET will be held in month of Dec 2021.
The Common Entrance Examination shall have 200 objective type multiple choice questions each carrying one mark distributed in five subjects which are to be attempted in 3 hours duration.

These five subjects are as follows:

  • English 40 questions
  • General Aptitude 40 questions
  • Mathematics 50 questions
  • Physics 50 questions
  • Chemistry 20 questions

While ushering the young independent India into Self-reliance in the various fields, the self-reliance in the maritime education and training took the priority in the planning of the Government of India and the Nation saw birth of the first maritime training institutions in the country. Inaugurated in year 1948-49, the Training Ship Chanakya (successor of T.S.Dufferin & T.S.Rajendra), the Marine Engineering & Research Institute and LBS College of Advanced Maritime Studies & Research were established. The nation saw foundations of what will become the premier maritime training Institute of the country for next 60 years and beyond, bringing glory to the Nation by providing best of the seafaring professionals to the shipping industry, nationally and internationally, raising the standards of seafaring professionalism to ever higher levels, year after year.

Three institutes T.S.Chanakya, Marine Engineering and Research Institute & LBS College of Advanced Maritime Studies & Research the legacy institutes, constitute the Indian Maritime University-Mumbai Campus. The birth of Indian Maritime University a long cherished dream of the maritime community of India through an act of Parliament, was witnessed on 14th Nov 2008. Indian Maritime University as a Central University, is established to play a larger and key role in the development of trained human resource for the entire maritime sector. INDIAN MARITIME UNIVERSITY EXAM SECHDULE 2021

Indian Maritime University (IMU) will conduct common admission test (CET) for admission to its UG and PG programmes at its 36 affiliated Institutes. This year onwards Computer based or online exams will be conducted.

The following programmes are offered by the Indian Maritime University:

Undergraduate programmes:

  • B.Tech (Marine Engineering)
  • B.Tech (Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering)
  • B.Sc (Ship Building & Repair)
  • B.Sc (Maritime Science)
  • B.Sc (Nautical Science)
  • Diploma in Nautical Science leading to B.Sc. (Nautical Science)

Postgraduate programmes:

  • MBA (Port and Shipping Management)
  • MBA (International Transportation and Logistics Management)
  • M.Tech (Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering)
  • M.Tech (Dredging and Harbour Engineering)
  • LLM (Maritime Laws)

There will be a CET common to all UG programmes, one CET for two MBA programmes; another CET common to the 2 M.Tech programmes; and yet another CET for the LLM (Maritime Laws)

The Indian Maritime University was set up to promote maritime studies, training, research and extension with focus on emerging areas like oceanography, maritime history, maritime laws, maritime security, search and rescue, transportation of dangerous cargo, environmental studies and other related fields, and to achieve excellence in these areas.

Eligibility criteria:

For UG Programmes:
Candidates should have passed or appearing the final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized central/state Board or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
Candidates must possess good binocular vision must be physically fit and should meet the medical requirements as specified by DGS guidelines.

The age of the candidates should not be more than 25 years (for General) and 30 years (for SC/ST).

For PG Programmes:
For M. Tech : Candidate must be a Graduate Engineer in Mechanical / Civil / Aeronautical / Marine / Naval Architecture Engineering or equivalent with a minimum of 60 per cent aggregate.

For LLM and MBA: Candidate must be a graduate with an aggregate of 50 per cent
Candidates must possess good binocular vision must be physically fit and should meet the medical requirements as specified by DGS guidelines.

Candidates should complete admission brochure to know about eligibilitycriteria in details.

How to Apply:

  • Candidates have to apply online.
  • Candidates have to visit the website and fill the online application form present on the CET 2021 hyperlink
  • A Passport size colour photograph of size 156×156 and the candidate’s scanned signature of size 200×60 have to be uploaded before submission
  • On applying candidates will get a Unique Application number.
  • After filling the application form with personal details like cell ph no and email id for periodical intimidation, candidates can make payments online at STATE BANK COLLECT – A Multi-Modal Payment Portal.
  • To make payments offline candidates can download and take a print of the challan and make payment at the nearest SBI bank.
  • After making payments through any mode come back to the saved Online Registration web page of the Service Provider, enter the unique Reference number/Journal number and other details such as the mode of payment, date of payment, amount paid, etc to make confirm registration.

Application Fee:
Rs.1000 for General candidates and Rs.700 for SC/ST candidates

Paper Pattern:

For UG programmes question paper will comprise of Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, English, General Knowledge and Aptitude questions. BUY 2IMU BOOKS

For the MBAs questions will be asked from English, General Knowledge, Aptitude, Financial Accounting, Economics, Maritime Affairs, Mathematics at UG level.

For the M.Techs questions will be asked from English, General Knowledge, Aptitude, Mathematics and Engineering.
For LLM (Maritime Laws) questions will be asked  from English, General Knowledge, Aptitude and General Laws.

The exam will be Computer-based or online and questions will be of multiple choice type.

Candidates who are shortlisted based on CET scores will be called for Counselling at designated IMU Campus(es) and will involve verification of original mark sheets and certificates, physical fitness clearance, and allotment of seats in the IMU Campuses or Affiliated Institutes.
